Holly is a sweet and loving 3 year old Sapsali mix.  She was rescued as a puppy from a high kill shelter and was adopted to a family back in 2022.  Unfortunately, circumstances changed and she was returned to Love and Second Chances.

Holly adores her bonded foster family, loves to snuggle, plays gently with her little foster dog-brother, and is polite and house-wise. She is smart and quickly mastered basic commands like sit, down, shake and paw.  She paws at you to indicate she needs to go outside, and then just sits and waits by the door.  She never had any potty accident or chewed anything up.  She is great in the car, loves her walks, and easily goes into the crate. She loves to be close to her people, and lays on her foster mom’s feet while she’s working on her computer. She’d make a great Netflix and Chill buddy. She has co-existed with a cat, but she has a high prey drive, so a cat-free home would be best.

Due to circumstances, Holly’s previous home became stressful, and she developed some habits that need work. Her new adopters will need to commit to working with a trainer, to make sure that she becomes the best dog she can be! Holly has some stranger-danger issues. Since she’s been with her foster, she’s improved a LOT, but it still takes a while for her to trust a stranger coming into her house. She also has some leash-reactivity toward other dogs. This also has improved quite a bit with her foster, and is finally at the point that she is passive or even politely curious towards most dogs she sees! She also has some food-guarding issues, but she does fine co-existing with the three other dogs in the household, and has even bonded with the young and playful one.

Holly would thrive in a family with only adults, or teens. She wants someone who can help her learn how to succeed and grow, and who can take the time to help her rebuild trust and love. Holly is a wonderful dog with so much love to give, and we truly believe she deserves a home where she can be restored to the perfect dog she was.

Holly is patiently waiting!
