Hello, I am Gizmo, a 17 pound shih tzu. I am a senior fella, guessing around nine years old. I am a resilient dog who has endured unimaginable conditions of neglect. Despite my previous circumstances, I love ALL humans and the company of other dogs. My foster mom rescued me after years of living in a backyard. I love to snuggle and am a show-stopper with my good looks, a real head-turner. I have been told I am adorable despite some missing fur where my skin was exposed to the elements of living outside. I don’t require a lot of exercise, but I enjoy a nice stroll to sniff around a bit. My previous owner had plans to end my life because they saw me as an inconvenience. I was rescued with both ear drums ruptured and multiple foxtails in both ears, ulcers in both eyes, no tear duct production, and a horrible skin condition from being left outside for so many years. That said, I am on the mend and on my way to recovery.

I am easygoing and love to snuggle close and tucked into the armpit of the closest human…I am not super picky. My one downfall is that I get a little grumpy when it is time to get my medication for my eye condition. I might be able to trust over time since I will require eye ointment for the rest of my life. My foster mom does her best to administer my required doses of eye ointment twice a day. I desperately want to find my perfect home so I don’t end up neglected outside ever again.

We are looking for a home who understands the responsibilities of owning and raising a dog as a member of their family. Gizmo is patiently waiting!
