Meet Annie! Annie is an adorable 8 months old Rat Terrier! She is a loving, playful and silly puppy.  She loves people and will come ask for a pat or cuddle by rubbing her head and body until you give her the love she needs. Annie gets along with her foster sister (a senior mini poodle) and will follow her around the house. The two dogs like to play hide and seek in the yard and Annie really enjoys snooping around trees and shrubs to not have her foster sister find her.

Annie is cautiously curious and loves to check things slowly out by sniffing first. She is not a chewer, but likes to have a toy to lick and chew when she is bored. She loves to play fetch with her foster parents around the house to burn off the puppy energy. Annie needs at least 20 mins of fetch/tug war play around the house plus another 20 mins of yard play with her foster’s senior dog every day before she shows signs of tiredness. She does not pull on the leash and prefers walking slowly so she can smell all the flowers on the sidewalk.  Annie knows it is time to go into her crate when her foster parents go to bed and is able to sleep through the night in her crate.

Annie is food motivated and intelligent. She is fairly easy to train and will do well in obedience classes. Being a rat terrier, she likely excels in agility training. Although Annie had not chased any squirrels or cats in the neighborhood, her future family should always keep a collar and leash on her because her breed tends to have a strong prey drive and may dash out with little warning.

Annie can jump very high (she can reach the kitchen counter when jumping up). Therefore, she will be best in a household with older children, so Annie won’t accidentally push a child or knock down items that can hurt a little human.

Annie is solidly pad trained and is very particular with only doing business at a clean spot in the pad. So her future family will need to be diligent in changing her potty pads regularly to keep this clean girl happy.

She will do well in an apartment, townhome or single family home. A household where there is an adult home most of the time will be best for Annie because she really likes to be close with her human beings. She would also do well with another doggie companion so she doesn’t feel lonely.  Annie is patiently waiting!
