Boomi

My name is Boomi. I’m a 1 year and 8 month old FMD mix. At 29 lbs, I’m the perfect size for the city.
I’m a shy dog that will take time to warm up to new people. My foster parents say I’m the sweetest dog. I excitedly greet them and will usually follow them to see what they’re doing around the house. I don’t consider myself a lap dog, but I’ll gladly accept pets and scratches when offered. Although I love attention and being with people, I also appreciate my “me” time on my doggy bed.
I’m crate-trained but love sleeping in my dog bed. I’m very considerate of my foster parents’ sleep. Even when the alarm goes off, I’ll wait until I know they’re up to say good morning with doggy kisses. I’m still working on potty training but I almost have it down. I’ve peed a few times in the garage but am working on consistently going potty on walks or in the backyard.
I haven’t shown much interest in dog toys nor do I chew on anything I’m not supposed to. I’m still working on learning new tricks. So far I know “sit,” “stay,” and “paw” but am working on performing them consistently. Unlike most dogs, I’m not very treat-motivated.
During my walks, I love to sniff and take in all the new smells. I’ll sometimes pull on my leash when I get excited or something catches my attention. My foster parents think I’ll benefit from leash training. I also love to run around and would prefer a home with a spacious backyard and frequent trips to the dog park where I can show everyone how quick and athletic I am. Recently, I also discovered my love for the beach.
I wasn’t fostered with other animals but think I may enjoy living with another dog. Some might say I’m a beta. My foster parents have never seen me act aggressively towards another dog, even the ones that bark at me. In fact, I love meeting new dogs and will usually go out of my way to say hi. I’m also good around young children.
Sudden noises/movement still startle me and crowded areas make me anxious, but I’m getting more used to it. I would do best in a quiet home with a family that’s patient and is understanding of the needs of a rescue dog.
