Meet Roscoe! Roscoe was found abandoned with his three siblings in a deserted shed with no roof. There was no mother in sight — only a cardboard box. The four puppies were huddled there for warmth. With Taiwan’s rainy monsoon season approaching, the shed was in danger of flooding. They needed help right away. Rescuers brought them down the mountain, and found foster care for them all.  After a period of veterinary care and basic training, Roscoe was ready for adoption.

Roscoe is an extremely, sweet cheerful guy with a quiet, gentle soul. He has excellent house manners and is easy to live with. He doesn’t counter surf, doesn’t raid the garbage, and understands that some furniture is off-limits (if that’s the household rule). He waits politely to exit the house for walks. He waits politely while other dogs are fed first.

Roscoe has high energy, but it’s the type that’s sensible and enjoyable … not crazed. And he instantly calms down when he’s indoors. He happily complies with all boundaries once he understands them. He’s quick to understand, and happy to cooperate. His humans do need to be clear and consistent. He walks politely on a leash, and doesn’t lunge at dogs, squirrels, or geese. He enjoys outings and car rides.

He will quickly become a polite, playful friend to a family’s existing incumbent dog. It’s a beautiful sight to watch when Roscoe politely tries to initiate chases or tug-o-war with his packmates. He’s strong, fit, and has the extremely handsome, classic Formosan Mountain Dog appearance.

He’ll thrive in an active home that can include him in frequent day-to-day activities. Also important are regular walks, exercise, and socialization. Mature, balanced children would probably enjoy his playful nature. He is the kind of dog who enjoys being part of your daily life. He likes to be part of whatever’s going on. He can be included in many types of outings, even routine errands, due to his good manners and calm stable behavior. He walks right alongside on trails, thru busy parks, through towns and around the neighborhood.

Roscoe offers the quiet companionship, loyalty, and good manners that make a dog a joy to live with. Humans who appreciate a sensitive, level-headed, intelligent dog will be richly-rewarded by Roscoe. Roscoe is patiently waiting for a home to call his own!
