Hi, my name is Charlie! I’m a senior (8-10 year old) miniature poodle. I’m dressed in an apricot colored coat with a cream colored hairdo.  I spent most of my years in a Korean puppy farm.

A nice rescue in Korea took care of me until Love & Second Chances asked if I would like to come to the United States!  So here I am!  Unfortunately, I wasn’t in the best condition when I arrived.  In fact, I was a kind of mess: persistent infections in both ears (no wonder I was itchy) and I have no teeth (hence the constantly hanging tongue).  But my foster parents helped me get to the doctor and my recovery started.  After a month of hard work, I’m now feeling great! My ears are clearing up and I’m even able to eat kibble! It’s difficult for me to drink water so my foster mom “floats” my food so I get enough fluids.

That’s my history but here is where I’m at now – I sleep a lot like other seniors, but love to get up in the morning and prance around like a baby goat.  My foster mom says she caught me doing zoomies one day!  I’m good at going potty outside with an open doggie door.  I enjoy meeting strangers and am not afraid of other dogs.  Once in a while you can catch me playing with one of the other dogs, but only for a little while.  I like to talk, but only for good reason (like getting your attention).  But don’t get me wrong, I’m not a needy pup.  I love relaxing in one of the many dog beds that my foster humans have available.  Although I’d prefer to sleep on the bed with my foster humans, my crate is where I sleep at night.

I seem to be hard of hearing, but my hearing improves as the ear infections clear.  Also, because of the puppy farm, I’m conditioned to tune everything out so I can get some rest.  So sometimes it takes a loud voice to get my attention.

I’m still reactive to a leash, as I don’t like the feeling of being tied up.  But I’m in training using a harness and am slowly improving.  I do well on car rides, just chilling in the back seat.  I love being close to my foster humans and just discovered the joy and closeness of being on their laps!

My perfect home would be willing to understand what I’ve been through at the puppy farm and help me adjust to my new, wonderful life.  A quiet home would be best, as I need lots of patience and lots of understanding to help me through my fears and become a better me.  But be prepared to share my joy as I come out of my shell and I promise you smiles galore as you catch me bouncing around in happiness, doing an Army crawl to you for a belly rub, and those rare but joyous moments when I do some zoomies.

I have nothing but time for naps and relaxation.  I’m looking for a BFF that will give me all the love and pampering I deserve and is willing to continue my care during my retirement years.  If you can handle all of me, and want a new best friend, please fill out an application and tell me about yourself!  Maybe we’ll get to meet!  Or better yet, maybe you’re my forever family!
