Ryan

Meet Ryan! Ryan is 3 year old Jindo mix and a very sweet boy! Ryan is still very shy, but is slowly opening up at his foster home. He likes to spend most of his time in the backyard instead of inside. He’s part of the squirrel/delivery driver patrol with his foster home’s pups and he’s starting to get excited about playing fetch with a ball. He’s also learning how to play with other pups too. Ryan likely never had toys in his previous life because he’s still confused about stuffies and chews and is not very interested yet.
Ryan is very cautious about thresholds. His foster home is trying to teach him how to use the doggie door, but he still sometimes needs to be carried inside from the backyard or brought inside using treats. Once inside, he’ll find a comfortable place to nap, like at your feet, on the couch, or on the bed. He likes to watch TV with his foster family too.
Ryan is housetrained and will let you know when he needs to go out by sitting at the sliding door. Ryan is still unsure about leash walking. Initially he would freeze once a leash was attached. His foster home started practicing with a leash in the backyard. He will walk on leash until he gets distracted, but then will usually come to your side for some chicken treats. It may take at least a few more weeks before he’s ready to walk on leash on a busy sidewalk/street.
Ryan will be the ultimate snuggler once he lets his fur down, he sleeps through the night and likes to be right next to you in bed. Ryan doesn’t seem to have separation anxiety – he does okay in a crate, though he would prefer to be outside in the backyard.
We are looking for a home who understands the responsibilities of owning a dog as a member of their family. Ryan will need a special home who is willing to put in the time and patience to help him gain confidence in himself and to show him the world in a new light. Ryan is patiently waiting!
