Meet Peggy Sue, a 6 year old French bulldog with special needs: she has severe hip dysplasia.  She was rescued from a puppy mill in Taiwan where she was continually bred despite having this progressive, debilitating, genetic condition.

Despite her disability, Peggy Sue is housebroken, crate trained, good with children, and is an avid sunbather!  She likes people and does well in quiet households with low-key dogs.  She can walk, but mostly chooses to find a comfortable place to lay down to take pressure off her hind end.  But make no mistake: if she wants to go somewhere, she will!  She’ll definitely waddle over to her bowl at meal time, go through the open dog door to relieve herself, and head on over to the water bowl when she is thirsty.  She can even get up on her raised dog bed to sunbathe!  She can not climb stairs so she must be carried.  Peggy has a wheelchair to help assist her on her walks and she’s learning how to navigate with them on! Since Peggy Sue can’t scratch herself, she loves a good scratch or massage.  Because she has difficulty walking, she requires flooring that allows her to freely move around.

The ideal adopter for Peggy Sue will have the time, patience, and resources to improve Peggy Sue’s quality of life. She will require the right management and care to help her live long and comfortably.  This may include the appropriate exercises to improve the muscle mass in her hind end, her range of motion and flexibility, mental stimulation and pain or stress relief.

Peggy Sue is looking for the right home that understands her special needs and is willing to help her live her best life!
