Nimo

Name Nimo
Gender Male
Age 1 year old
Breed Jindo mix
Weight 25lbs.
Dog Nimo loves to say hello and make new best friends at the park. He does well with respecting boundaries with dogs who prefer alone time or are wary of introductions.
Cat Nimo is very curious about cats he meets on the street. He will fixate on them and barks, and his foster has to tug him along to continue their walks.
Kids Nimo is good with kids, getting along with her foster's 9 yr old niece.
Crate-trained Good in crate
Housebroken Yes
Leash Nimo could benefit from leash training. He currently pulls, especially when he spots a squirrel or cat. He often leads the pack on their daily walks. But he's easily redirected with a tug to his harness by his foster.
Barker Some barking. Nimo will bark when people pass by the front of the house and when he spots a shadow in the dark at the dog park. He'll want to investigate. Sometimes he'll stay at a distance until he recognizes the figure in the dark.
Adoption fee $650
Location Fostered in Oakland/Emeryville, CA
Additional Note Korea International program

Meet Nimo! He is an adorable 1 year old Jindo mix. Nimo is a sweet dreamy boy. He’s a small dog but trots around like the biggest dog at the park. He’s rascally like Bart Simpson with the smarts of Lisa, plus the dutiful courage, bravery and adventure-lust of Indiana Jones. He loves to run free at the dog park and can’t wait to be let off leash. He’s a confident explorer of new spaces, but he stays close and knows how to play it safe and smart. He’ll come when called and seems to know when to stay clear of certain dogs or interactions.

He would be great in a home with a dog sibling to play with. He plays well with all dogs – small and big, adjusting his play pattern based on the dog. Often it’s just chasing at rapid speed, or trying to tackle dogs 3x his size. There are two male 60+ dogs that he playfully growls at and bares his teeth. It’s reciprocal behavior that he only exhibits while playing with dogs who do the same – https://photos.app.goo.gl/fYiG1EH92DZqRrqc9

Nimo has teeth bigger than you would expect of a dog his size. (He gives the dreamiest smiles.) From the time of his arrival from S Korea, he’s gotten much better at only chewing dog-appropriate toys. His foster learned fast to keep the floor clear. If he is caught with something “inappropriate,” his foster just has to say his name in a “don’t try me” tone and he’ll drop what he’s got in his mouth. Plenty of dog toys is a must for this little player. But with no humans at home, the only entertainment you’ll get on camera is of him napping.

We are looking for a home who understands the responsibilities of owning and raising a dog as a member of their family. Nimo is patiently waiting!
