Meet HeukiMi! HeukMi is an adorable 5 months old Jindo mix. He was discovered in a forest on Jeju Island alongside his sister BaekMi and a third sibling who was found dead. HeukMi and his sister were rescued by a good samaritan and estimated to be 2.5-3 months old at the time. Ever since, HeukMi has been living in foster homes and learning how to live in a house.

HeukMi is an all around great puppy who has a ton of potential! Because of HeukMi’s curious nature and high puppy energy, he loves to explore new places, sniff, and go on long walks. He is confident or neutral in most settings and scenarios. However, his curious nature has also led him to mischievous behaviors (consistently hopping over baby gates, counter/floor surfing, etc) while he is still learning some boundaries.

Although HeukMi loves adventure, he is equally happy to sit next to his foster parents at home and receive endless pets. He is very sweet but also not needy for people’s constant affection and attention. For a primitive dog, HeukMi is quite friendly, playful, and curious towards people and dogs. However, HeukMi is working through mild separation anxiety (whining) when his foster parents and other dogs in the house are out of sight.

Lastly, HeukMi is both headstrong and physically strong. If he has his mind set on something, he will commit all his strength to it. This makes him a very strong puller on the leash. Lately, HeukMi has shown progress on leash walking when paired with a lot of treats. Because HeukMi is very food motivated (and not picky!), it can be easy to motivate and teach him new things. HeukMi will need a forever home that can continue his leash training before he grows even stronger.

HeukMi’s ideal forever home is one who can commit to training, exposure/socialization, and setting boundaries in order to raise a puppy into a good canine citizen. Bonus points for a forever home that would love to try canicross or bikejoring with HeukMi! HeukMi is patiently waiting!
