Meet Carmel, your new snuggle and walking buddy! Carmel is a sweet and smart beagle who loves belly rubs and toys. Carmel is a friendly dog who enjoys a good walk or meeting a new human to play with.Carmel is a high-energy, excitable dog that does best with plenty of exercise. His ideal day would include lots of walks, playtime with chew toys, and then snuggling on your lap to end the day. Carmel is always ready for a walk around the block. Since he is so excited and wants to be friends with everyone, he may bark or jump if he gets over-eager. When getting familiar with Carmel, it might be best to walk during off-times so he doesn’t get overstimulated. At home, Carmel likes playing tug-o-war, fetch with a tennis ball, and monkey in the middle. He also loves to nap and snuggle after a play session.Carmel is more of a tracking dog than a hunting dog. This means Carmel loves to sniff and track smells, but does not aggressively chase or hunt small animals such as squirrels or birds. Carmel does not show any signs of resource guarding or food aggression.Carmel is good with other dogs, but needs a formal introduction. He gets too overly excited around stranger dogs and may bark or jump, therefore a formal introduction is needed with other dogs. Since Carmel wants to show his love by jumping into your arms, he would be better in a home with adults or older children (12+ years old). As long as Carmel can get the exercise he needs (walks, play sessions, etc.), he will be happy in any type of home; either an apartment or house with a yard is fine.We are looking for a home who understands the responsibilities of owning and raising a dog as a member of their family. Carmel is patiently waiting!
