Meet sweet and loving Bongu! Bongu lived his life on a short leash with barely any proper shelter. He rarely got fed and only ate rotten or leftover food. Rescuers fed and cared for him, and finally convinced his owner to give him up. For the first time ever, he got proper vet care and learned what life is like off the short tether!

Bongu has a big heart and loves to cuddle. He has lots of energy to play with you, chase a ball, and run around with other dogs. Then he will happily lay by your feet and relax. All he wants is love! He is smart and resilient, and has already learned the sit command! He follows the lead of his foster brother, and will quickly learn your house routine from your dog.

Bongu is a sweet boy who can be shy at first due to his past being isolated alone, but he has so much potential and craves lots of affection. Once he feels comfortable, he opens his heart right up! He does not resource guard, but can be shy when you give him his food.

Bongu would benefit most in a household with adults, or older children who can respect boundaries and be patient and gentle with a shy dog. He would thrive with a mature and/or gentle resident dog. Ideal home would be someone who understands that it takes time for Bongu to build a trusting bond to open up, who can meet him where he is without expectations, and who would continue to train him to the next level to see his full potential.

Bongu is patiently waiting for a home to call his own!
