Meet Romie! Romie was rescued from a scrapyard where he had been neglected in extremely poor conditions. He survived on food waste and was either tied up on a short chain or confined in a small wire cage. Romie had never learned many of the things most dogs take for granted, including potty training and playing with toys. In just one month, he has made incredible progress. He now uses pee pads, enjoys playing fetch and tug, loves swimming, and is learning what it means to live happily with people.
Romie is an incredibly affectionate and lovable dog who quickly wins people over with his sweet personality. He may be slightly shy at first with some men, but he warms up quickly and is especially affectionate with women. He loves showing his belly, cuddling on the sofa, being petted, going for walks, and doing nose work. Romie has high energy outdoors but knows how to relax indoors. He currently enjoys three walks a day and would do best with an active family that can provide regular walks, exercise, and enrichment.
Romie could live as an only dog or with a friendly, well mannered dog. A home with children over 10 years old would also be a good fit. Romie is smart, adaptable, and learns quickly. His past may not have given him the chance to experience a normal life, but he has already shown just how much he can grow with patience, consistency, and love. Romie is patiently waiting!
