Meet Nickson! Nickson is an adorable 15 months old FMD mix! He was abandoned on the highway and picked up by rescuers when they found him.  He was fostered for a year in Taiwan and was flown to the U.S. at the end of September this year where he is currently being fostered in Sunnyvale, California.

Nickson is a great and sweet dog with good house manners.  He loves being near his people and foster brother.  He is affectionate and likes to be pet as well as cuddling.   He is quite mild mannered and enjoys napping throughout the day.  Though he likes lounging & napping, he is a bit excitable in that once a human moves around or gets up, he is on high alert and wants to know what’s going on (same with when he hears noises or senses things around the house, he is easily distracted). He does not counter surf nor chew on random stuff in the house, rarely barks, and does not jump on people except for his family members when he’s really excited.  Essentially, he is a dream dog in the home.  Also has done well in the car.

Nickson does have some resource guarding with high value toys. He has improved since his foster got him but still does it if he sees unique toys. Best is to play with toys that have multiple versions – like multiple balls, multiple similar squeakers. He does like to hump other dogs when he first meets them, especially if the other dog is an in tact male. He is best meeting other friendly dogs that are more on the submissive side. His humping does stop after he gets familiar with them.

Nickson can be a picky eater. He does not like his kibble, but will eat it when mixed with some BUTCHER BLOCK PÂTÈ – CHICKEN & SUPER GREENS from Honest Kitchen. his foster home have tried many different foods to mix with his kibble and this is the only one he really likes.

When Nickson first came to his foster home, he was both curious and scared.  Once he saw his foster family’s dog (black lab), he instantly became more comfortable and relaxed.  Since he is quite an expressive dog, you can easily see how he is feeling based on his ears and tail.

Nickson will be good as an only dog or in a home with another dog. He loves attention and affection from humans. It would be great if the other dog is both playful and matches Nickson’s medium energy level. Also, Nickson likes to nap on the couch and the bed, so having a family that allows him on the furniture would be nice. The ideal family will also be dedicated to socializing him more with dogs in small groups as well as giving him additional training (such as stay, recall). Most importantly, the family should give Nickson lots of love, affection & patience. 💕

We are looking for a home who understands the responsibilities of owning and raising a dog as a member of their family. Nickson is patiently waiting!
