Jojo
Jojo is a very special and resilient dog. He was found wandering in Wildcat Canyon. A kind couple fed him and tried to approach and make friends for days, weeks, and months on end, but he was wary of people. He’d run off into the safety of the woods and return for his food when no one was around. After 9 months(!) on his own, he was finally trapped and brought to safety at the Berkeley Animal Shelter. After checking for a chip (none) and being neutered, he is now being fostered at his finders’ home. His true personality came out in the home – he is social, playful, and wants nothing more than to be close to his people. He saved up a lot of love over his 9 months on the lam and he is not shy about doling it out. He was clearly someone’s dog in his previous life and deserves to be loved again. Through no fault of his own, Jojo’s finders cannot keep him because the resident dog has made it very clear that he wants to be an only child. Jojo deserves a forever home without a meanie sibling.
Jojo is a middle-aged puppy. He is happy and goofy and enthusiastic in everything he does. He adores his toys, his treats, his walks, and his doggy and human friends. While shy with strangers at first, he is quickly won over with treats. He wants to please and is easily trainable, knows basic commands, is house-trained, rides well in a car, and walks well on leash. He settles nicely after his walks and spends his time on his favorite couch or basking in the backyard sun. He is current on vaccines, had a dental, and blood work. He takes anti-inflammatory medication for his typical German Shepherd hips, but doesn’t let that slow him down. He may not enjoy a run, but he’s up for walks and short hikes anytime. Jojo prefers to be an only dog, but may be OK with a doggy sibling in a dog-experienced household. An adult home with a fenced yard and not too many stairs would be Jojo’s ideal forever. Jojo is looking for an adopter who will continue to build his trust and show him that most of us humans are OK. He is ready to leave his old life behind and have the life every dog deserves.
