River, who is affectionately called “Kisses” by her foster mom, is the sweetest little girl you’ll ever meet.  River is like that quiet girl from gradeschool who sits in the back of the classroom – the one who stays on the bench at lunch and reads books. The one who, once you get to know her, is just sweet, kind, and becomes your best friend. It takes her a day or so to open up to new people, but once she does, she is non-stop kisses, waggles, and love.  Don’t let her resting-worry-face fool you – she’s a happy, energetic, sweet puppy.

River is good on leash, and has mostly gotten over her fears of fire hydrants and garden flags. She’s great with other dogs, and she loves to lick the cat’s ears. She’s potty trained (with a doggie door). She doesn’t chew things around the house, although she does enjoy bringing in random things from the yard and shredding them onto the carpet.  She’s probably going to be about 45 lbs full grown.

River would thrive best in a home with another dog. She gains a lot of confidence and becomes less shy, when she can follow the lead of a solid, confident dog. And while she is loving, snuggly, and joyful with people, you can see her spirit explode into bliss with another playful dog. In the right situation, an only-dog home would be considered.

River is being fostered in El Sobrante. Meet and greets can be arranged during the shelter-in-place, as long as the social-distancing requirements can be met.
