Meet Dex! Dex’s journey began at the shelter where he was among the many animals at risk of euthanasia due to illness, size, or other challenges. Despite the shelter’s efforts, the overwhelming number of strays made it impossible to provide adequate care. Thankfully, many rescue organizations and individual volunteers was able to rescue all 105 animals from the shelter, and Dex is one of 17 rescued by our rescue partner. Dex has since gotten a clean bill of health and ready to find his forever home.

Dex is a gentle soul who is learning to trust people. He’s super friendly with other dogs and enjoys their company, often adapting well to their playful pranks. While he may be shy around humans, this is more a matter of caution than aggression. With some patience and the presence of people-friendly furry friends, Dex’s confidence is growing. In fact, when he started to use the same room with another dog who was people-friendly, Dex’s curiosity and comfort with humans increased significantly. He now approaches people who he recognizes more readily and wags his tail in greeting.

Dex is undergoing leash training and doing a great job! He shows no reactivity to the harness or leash but is still apprehensive about sudden or loud noises, such as car sounds. His progress is steady, and he’s becoming more comfortable with each session. Dex is crate trained and handles his crate with ease. Dex has a medium energy level and will thrive with 1-2 walks a day to keep him happy and healthy.

Dex is a shy but sweet pup who will flourish with the support of a compassionate family and a friendly furry friend. His sensitivity to external noises suggests that a suburban environment would be ideal for him, as it offers a quieter setting compared to urban areas. With patience and love, Dex will continue to open up and show his true, affectionate nature. We are looking for a warm, understanding home where Dex can feel secure and begin a new chapter in his life!
