Hi!  My name is Lilo!  I’m a 3 year old female Frenchie looking for the perfect home.

Here is my story – Back in October 2023, my owners surrendered me to the vet.  You see, due to the narrowing of discs in my neck, mid and lower back, I could not use my back legs and just dragged them around.  My owners did not want to deal with my condition (IVDD) and asked the vet to euthanize me.  Instead, the vet asked my owners to surrender me to them.  And lucky for me, they did!  Whew, that was a close call!

My foster mom took me home and began nursing me back to health.  It was a long, difficult, and painful road to recovery, but my foster mom didn’t give up on me!  We did chiropractor treatments, cold laser therapy, acupuncture, range of motion, medications, and lots of exercises (including doggy squats).  That was a lot of work!  But now I can walk just like the other dogs!  Take a look at my reel to see my progress – it’s quite remarkable if I do say so myself.

Now, my IVDD is stable, I’m feeling great, and I’m trying to be very careful so that I don’t regress.  It would be really helpful if my new home was either a one-story home or had carpeted stairs.  My new humans will need to help keep me healthy and be prepared to get me treatment if my IVDD flares up.  I’m not fond of other dogs, so I’ll need to be an only dog in my new home.

By the way, I’m sweet as can be and all wrapped up in a beautiful brown coat.  I love playing with toys, taking naps, short walks, and car rides (in the front seat please).  But, I’m happiest when I’m spending time with my humans – I’ll follow you around the house, cuddle with you while you’re relaxing, and give you lots of kisses! I love it when we go outside together and if you let me chase the hose and drink out of it, I’ll be in my happy place!  I may not like other dogs, but I love people and those little people (children)!  Even dog savvy cats may be ok.

Hopefully I have convinced you that although I have some special needs, I’m a still great dog.  I’m looking for the right home and the right family that is willing to work with me to keep me healthy.  I’m worth it, I promise.  Are you that special family?  Apply and maybe you’ll get the chance to meet me and maybe even adopt me!
