Meet Yoonsul! Yoonsul is a sweet, shy, baby-giant mastiff mix girl. She was born in a dog-meat slaughterhouse in Korea, and was rescued with 20 other puppies, in the “golden time” before she witnessed any atrocities. Most of the rest of the 21 puppies have found homes – and Yoonsul wants to be next on the list!
Yoonsul (called Popsicle by the 4-year-old human foster child) had some trauma in her life. Once she adjusts and feels safe, she is a cuddly, happy, mellow, darling girl who wants nothing more than to quietly absorb your love. She is highly food motivated, and that will help to quickly win her trust and love. She wants to be brave, and learn, and explore, and if you have a lot of love to give, a lot of treats in your pocket, and a lot of patience, she will reward you ten times over, when you see her progress.
Yoonsul does great with most dogs. She is playful and loves to wrestle. She is a little shy with very young children, but is fine if they are old enough to understand boundaries around bodily autonomy. She does fine on leash, especially if she is with another “leader” dog. She is house trained, goes in the crate, and is able to be left alone for a couple of hours.
Yoonsul would thrive in a home with another young and mellow but playful dog. She gets overstimulated when there’s a lot of energy in the room, so she wouldn’t do well with a hyper dog, a large and busy family, or energetic children. She needs a person or family who wants to invest some time and love into helping a dog with a traumatic background, become the wonderful confident girl that she has the potential to be.
Yoonsul is currently being fostered in El Sobrante. We are looking for a home who understands the responsibilities of owning and raising a puppy as a member of their family. Yoonsul is patiently waiting!
