Behavioral Can be territorial at home. Has dog reactivity, and needs ongoing training. Has the tendency to choose a person as his Alpha and get very attached to him/her. Gets spooked easily.

Meet Sonny! Sonny is a cute and fluffy 3 year old Welsh Corgi Mix. Most of the time he loves to be a couch potato chilling on his bed, on the ground, or next to his humans. When he gets excited he likes to play with his favorite turtle toy and he will love to have you playing with him. Sonny entertains himself with food puzzles, sniffing mattresses, and chewing bones.
At first, he will tend to go slow and will sniff every single spot in your house but when he warms up to you he will love to cuddle with you on the couch and put his head in between the pillows right next to you. He understands commands such as sit, down, come, no, and shake paws.
At his fosters, he did great with people and kids and demonstrated his love for attention (unless he’s startled). He does extremely well inside the house (outside the continuous barking which seems to be just alarm of noises and people walking outside). Even being good with a kennel, at night he has his own space and does not need to be kenneled. He has access to a big area, where he does his own thing, and it’s perfect. He’s trained to go potty only on the pee pad and nowhere else. He’s a big couch potato and likes to take many naps. He loves going for walks and exploring.
Sonny has some tendencies to choose one person in the household to be his Alpha Human. This way, if he gets attached to a particular person, he will be overprotective (but not aggressive) and be that person’s shadow. His continuous barking while in a car needs some work and training. In addition, his reactiveness to other dogs needs some attention, patience, and commitment to training and socialization. His tendency is to be okay with small dogs after sharing the room for a while, but with bigger dogs, he doesn’t seem to like them at all.
Sonny still needs work on socialization and training so for now he will do well as an only dog. We’re looking for a special adopter who will love him. We’re looking for a home that understands the responsibilities of owning a dog as a member of their family. Sonny is patiently waiting!
