Meet Johnson! Johnson is a lovable and loving 1 year old FMD mix. Johnson hails from Taiwan and is roughly 30-lbs. He stumbled on a bear trap and lost one of his legs but has not let this slow him down or his capacity for trusting people and animals. Johnson gets around beautifully up and down the steps at his foster home and on 1-2 mile walks twice a day. He can still be clumsy from time to time as he negotiates his bearings on three legs but it makes him all the more endearing. Due to his missing leg, he has a hard time jumping up on people or counters which makes things easier around the house and when out socializing!

Johnson is a smart cookie. Has not had an accident in the house since his first night at his foster home, he picked up potty training incredibly fast and goes to the door to alert them when he needs to go out. He is very gentle and a great playmate with his foster’s 2 year old 13-lb dog. They interchange between playing and napping throughout the day. His foster did notice minor toy guarding during play time but their dog is a beta so it has not been an issue in their household. Johnson is so incredible and relaxed with crate training! He is in there for an 8-9 hour night without a whimper. He also has done well in his crate when his fosters need to escape for errands here and there. It is a great quality of his!

He is a bit shy at first but opens up with some one on one time. He really came out of his shell after 2-3 days. He wags his tail, gives kisses and has an overall very sweet demeanor. Johnson would do well with kids as long as they are respectful and understanding that he is a rescue and may need space or be nervous at times. Johnson is the type of dog that will be really bonded to his owner/pack. He is curious, intelligent and highly coachable.

Johnson could do well in a city environment or the suburbs ideally with an owner that will ensure he has socialization with other dogs. we are looking for a home who understands the responsibilities of owning and raising a dog as a member of their family. Johnson is patiently waiting!
