Gomi

Meet Gomi! Gomi is an adorable 2.5 years old Jindo mix. He is a sweet boy who settled in very quickly into his foster home. He took about a week to warm up to his foster parents, but once he did, his personality really started showing — cute, patient when at home and extremely loyal. He will follow his fosters everywhere around the house but in total silence. Gomi hasn’t barked once inside the house during his time at the foster parents’! He hasn’t shown any interest in climbing on furniture or beds, so he’s not a couch cuddler, but he loves belly rubs and ear massages while standing stoically next to the couch — every few hours he comes next to his foster parents asking for pets. He loves ear, head massages and scratches on the back of his head. He’s totally house trained and is fine by himself all night until his foster parents wake up. During the day, he’s very content to nap in his dog bed, on the rug, or in his crate. He knows sit, stay, paw and is learning to play fetch! Gomi can be motivated by the right foods — chicken, eggs and cheese! He’s not a big fan of fish.
While he remains calm indoors, Gomi actually has a fair amount of energy and so would do well with 3 walks a day. Outside, Gomi gets extremely excited at all the sights and smells, especially other dogs, young kids, and squirrels. He will need to work on his leash behavior (he’s partially leash trained) — but he has shown tremendous improvement in just 10 days with the fosters. He’d do great in a home with a backyard where he can practice his outdoor behavior in an environment with fewer distractions — this is a hard requirement. He needs to be socialized with other dogs as he gets excited sometimes and does not know how to react when other dogs are around him. Because he’s so loyal to humans and because of his agitation around other dogs, he would do best as the only dog in the home.We are looking for a home who understands the responsibilities of owning and raising a dog as a member of their family. Gomi is patiently waiting!
