Meet Brownie and Cupcake! ? Brownie and Cupcake are the sweetest, most resilient puppies you’ve ever met. They were found with their 8 siblings and mama, in a village where people chased them, yelled at them, and even threw firecrackers at them. There was no food, and they were in very poor shape when they were eventually caught at 3 months old, and taken to a high-kill shelter. From there, they were rescued, brought back to health, and are now in a foster home in the SF East Bay Area ❤️
These two want so badly to trust and bond to a human. But, because of their early life, their little brains literally don’t know how to do that! Their foster mom can see that they want to learn how to be loved, and every day they overcome another piece of the fear that’s holding them back from that snuggly, warm lap that’s waiting patiently.
Brownie is the braver and more outgoing of the two. He actively seeks affection now, and has started trying to initiate play with his foster mom! Cupcake is the more skittish of the two. She will let her foster mom pet her, and even enjoys having her ears rubbed, but still prefers to generally stay out of reach. They’re both highly food motivated, do fine with cats, enjoy the company of dogs their size or smaller, know how to use the doggie door, are mostly house trained, and do OK on leash in areas with few other humans.They are a bonded pair, and they need to be adopted together. They would do best in a house with a yard, and at the least need a place with a patio for pottying. Brownie will likely be about 40-45 lbs full grown, and Cupcake 30-35 lbs.
Brownie and Cupcake are patiently waiting for the right person or family, who understands how their early puppyhood has shaped their little brains. Who understands that they are a long-term project, and that it might be months, or even more, before they really bond to you – but when they finally do, it’s going to be the most rewarding thing that’s ever happened. We are looking for a home who understands the responsibilities of owning and raising a puppy. Brownie and Cupcake are patiently waiting! ❤️
