Hi! I’m Sparky… although around here I’m called Sparks or Sparkles, depending on whether I’m being adorable or just a little mischievous. I’m a 2- to 5-year-old Chihuahua mix with a black coat, white markings, and I weigh just 5.4 pounds. I may be tiny, but my personality is anything but!

Before rescue, I was one of more than 20 little dogs crammed into cages in the back of a pickup truck. I managed to escape, and a kind man rescued me. He wanted to help, but I needed medical care he couldn’t afford, so Love and Second Chances took me in.

I arrived underweight with a painful skin infection, ear infections, and very little fur. Thanks to great care, soothing baths, good food, and lots of love, I’m healthy, gaining weight, and my fur is growing back. I’m now vaccinated, microchipped, spayed, and ready for my forever home.

I’m either “on” or “off.” When I’m awake, I love zoomies, toys, wrestling with my dog friends, walks, and curling up in your lap.  I adore other dogs, enjoy adventures, and food is definitely the way to my heart.

I’m crate trained, doing well with pad training and still working on one little thing—sometimes when I get very excited or a little scared, I dribble a bit. It’s getting better every day as I gain confidence.

Dogs? Other dogs in the house would be awesome!  Cats?  Well, I’ll chase and bark at them unless they are the savvy street smart cats—they just look at me like I’m crazy.  Kids?  When it comes to kids, I think they’re just fine—as long as they understand I’m incredibly tiny and treat me gently and respectfully.

If you’re looking for a tiny dog with a huge heart and an even bigger personality, I might be your perfect match. Just know that Love and Second Chances is very careful about choosing my forever family. They want to make sure my next chapter is my very best one—and I think I’m worth the wait.
