Jered
Hi everyone! My name is Jered, and I’m a 4-year-old miniature poodle with a beautiful coat of curly brown hair. I weigh under 12 pounds, making me the perfect size!
I was born in Korea and spent my early life in a puppy mill, which wasn’t my ideal situation. Fortunately, a rescue organization in Korea saved me and gave me a temporary home. Later, Love and Second Chances invited me to join them in the United States, and I’m incredibly grateful for this opportunity. I even got my own Love and Second Chances ID tag, which I wear with pride!
Currently, I’m living with my foster parents and their senior dog, as well as other dogs they may be dog sitting. I get along great with all the dogs, regardless of their size. However, I’m still working on building trust with humans. My experience at the puppy mill was traumatic, and it’s going to take time and patience for me to overcome my fear.
I love it when my foster parents let me sleep in bed with them or sit on the couch with them. But when I’m not at eye level and a human approaches me or reaches out to touch me, I instinctively run away. I know I’ll figure it out with time and patience.
At night, I either sleep in my crate or on the bed with my foster humans. I’ve learned how to go outside to relieve myself (humans call it “potty training”). Since I’m a well-behaved dog, my foster parents trust me to be out of my crate while they’re away.
I recently discovered the delight of toys and the joy of rummaging through the toy basket for something that piques my interest. While playing with other dogs is enjoyable, I sometimes experience a bit of fear. It’s the lingering effects of my past experiences with puppy mills that make me hesitant. I need to relearn that humans are generally kind and that playing is a normal and enjoyable activity.
I’m seeking a loving, caring, and most importantly, patient family without children or with older children. This family should understand my source of anxiety and be willing to provide me with the time I need to build my confidence. Having another dog in the household would be beneficial, as I learn best by observing the resident dogs.
If you’re considering adopting me, I encourage you to research puppy mill dogs to gain a deeper understanding of my behavior and potential challenges. If necessary, be prepared to seek the assistance of a trainer who specializes in addressing my specific issues. My foster parents are committed to my well-being and are quite transparent about my needs. However, they will also be very selective in choosing potential adopters.
Despite these considerations, if you’re still convinced that you’re the perfect family for me, I kindly request that you complete an application and share a bit about yourselves. Perhaps we’ll meet and find a forever home together.
