Fourth of July is a wonderful holiday for us humans, full of noise, friends, and family. But it can be a very stressful time for animals. The loud noise from firecrackers can be very painful to sensitive dog and cat ears. There is a lot you can do to make your pet more comfortable.
– Keep your pet indoors. Let them seek out an area they feel is safe. This can be under the bed, in a closet, in a dog crate, in the shower, etc..
– Keep blinds and curtains closed and lights on in the house.
– Play background music or leave the TV on to help drown out or tone down loud sudden noises.
– For dogs, consider using a “thunder shirt”- available online or at many pet stores
