Meet handsome Keanu (aka Nunu for short)! Keanu is a charming, calm and mature jindomix pupper who just turned one in January.
Keanu hails from the lovely Jeju Island of South Korea, rescued as newborn puppy born to a stray dog roaming around the island. His Korean name is Nurungee meaning, burnt rice, due to his light brown/cream coloring. Keanu had been fostered by a family with 3 children ages 6-12 in Jeju for over10 months before coming to California.
Keanu is not timid or reactive at all, however, he is skeptical of people at first and would need a slow introduction and does best when other dogs are with him. Once he settles in and becomes comfortable, he’s quite the lovable cutiepie who follows you around for treats and secretly enjoys cuddling with you on the couch or the bed.
Keanu walks great on leash when walked alone and good when walked with other dogs too, but can get skittish when we run into people, and gets quite excited if he spots a bird.
He was a little nervous on his first car ride, but adjusted rather quickly when he learned it was to go to a dog park.
Keanu is food motivated and can be trained easily and is a quick learner. He has learned how to clear puzzle toy by grabbing the blocks off rather than pushing it to the side. He loves to play tug a war with his foster mom or sniff for treats in the snuffle mat if not sleeping in the sun most of the day. He is gentle in taking treats, has no resource guarding, and is not picky with food so far.
Keanu has learned how to Sit, High Five, and Wait. He is very healthy and has no problem going potty in the backyard, but definitely loves his daily walks. He has spurt moments of playfulness, but remains mostly mellow indoors while foster parents work and resident dogs naps waiting for their next walk.
Keanu would benefit most with someone with a mature resident dog, and/or older children who can be patient and gentle with a shy dog.
Ideal home would be someone who is patient and understands it takes time for Keanu to build a trusting bond to open up, especially if there is no other dog in the household, who would continue to train him to the next level to see his full potential. Keanu is patiently waiting!
