Meet Khan! Khan is an adorable 5-6 year old Sapsali. He was bought by his previous owner from the dog meat market as a puppy to be eaten for stamina during the hottest season of the year called Boknal, which is still a tradition among Korean elderly. Since he wasn’t brought in to be a member of the family, he was kept outside tied to an auto repair shop until he reached 2 years old. A nearby rescuer kept an eye on him as he went to this auto repair shop, and rescued him when Khan got really big and was at the risk of being taken to the butcher. Since he was kept tied for so long, he now loves going on walks.

Khan loves people and recognizes the regular volunteers at the shelter. He’s smart and still so young–we can tell he misses being at home. Khan grows very attached to his people and will take some time to adjust in new environments. He can be a little unsure of busy, crowded and noisy places, so will need to ease slowly into those situations. We are looking for a home who understands the responsibilities of owning and raising a dog as a member of the family. Khan is patiently waiting!
