Meet Minnie! Minnie was badly abused by her previous owner and was beaten when they were in a bad mood. At one point she was hurt so bad that she became paralyzed. Her owners then decided to surrender her to the shelter not wanting to deal with her anymore. Minnie was dragged into the shelter on her leash since she was unable to use her two back legs. Thankfully one of our rescuers was there and witnessed  the whole thing, she negotiated with the owners to turn Minnie over to her. Minnie was brought to the vet for a full check out and was deemed healthy aside from being underweight and paralysis in her two legs. With therapy and acupuncture Minnie was able to stand and slowly walk again within 2 months in rescue. Although she is able to “walk” we believe in the long run she will need assistance from a wheelchair which rescue will help fundraise for. Minnie is considered a special needs dog due to her paralysis making her unable to control her bladder. Minnie will need a home that will be ok in expressing her bladder and continuing to work with her on rehab. We are looking for a home that understands the breed and what it would take to give Minnie a loving home. Minnie is patiently waiting for a home to call her own!
