Meet Ivan! Ivan was abandoned by his owner at a high kill shelter when the owner needed to get surgery. Ivan waited by the kennel door and refused to do anything but wait hopefully for his owner to return. He would fall asleep leaning against the kennel bar and doze in and out but always vigilant to make sure he doesn’t miss the potential his owner would come back to get him. Sadly for Ivan that day never came. Ivan had many people call in to check on him due to his friendly and loving personality however no one who called in ever stepped up to take him in. When it came to Lunar New Year, the shelter was doing a big “clean up” where they did a mass euthanasia to clear out their space for the new year. Fearing for Ivans’ life because she knew he had very little chance due to being a bigger dog and also a black dog, the rescuer decided to give him a second chance.

Ivan is a very sensitive boy and knew well that he was rescued. He appreciated everything that was given to him by his rescuer. A blanket, a toy, whichever it was he cherished it and would play softly while laying cozy on his little blanket. Ivan loved attention or anything to do with people. One of the thing the rescuer noticed the most was how great his temperament was and how loyal is. Ivan deserves a home that would cherish him the same way he will cherish them. He needs a family to continue to show him what it means to be in a home. Ivan is patiently waiting!
