Helping death-row, abused, and neglected dogs find forever homes. We do not discriminate by breed, age or special needs. As long as we’re capable of helping out, we will never say no!
Ilka is a sweet and gentle 2 1/2 year old Transylvanian Hound. She is loyal to her family, she loves hiking, lying on her bed in front of the fire, and getting plenty of belly rubs. With strangers, Ilka is a skittish and fearful dog, especially when new people come into her space. She responds by barking; and she once nipped an adult who got too close to her upon entering the house.* She also loves food and owners need to be mindful of leaving food unattended on tables and in the kitchen. Ilka will thrive in a quiet home with few changes in routine or people, access to the outdoors, and time to run freely with her owner.
* Here are the specifics of the incident: Ilka was standing on the top of a set of 6 steps entering our house and the adult walked towards the steps, put her hand out, and then put her face up to Ilka’s. Ilka responded with a bark and a nip to the bridge of the adult’s nose.
If you have extra time on your hand and would like to help please consider volunteering! Rescue groups need dedicated volunteers to help with events, fundraisers, home checks, transports, etc. All of these things help enable the rescue to expand their network and help more dogs in need.
